Plantation & Organic Farm

By recreating a mixed forest ecosystems of vegetation, fruit trees and hardwoods, Azueros is restoring the Tropical Dry Forest and wildlife habitat that originally existed in the province. The organic farm will provide produce for the community, supplying fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables to the Azueros restaurants and residents.

Vision & Style

The Saint Gilles design does not subscribe to a particular school, but seeks to ¨absorb what has been done and create something personal¨, mixing design elements from around the world. He is well known for possessing both elegant taste and technical expertise. His taste for geometry, minute detail, cosmopolitanism and a subtle blend of classic and contemporary styles have enhanced private residences, castles, boutiques, banks and palaces. Working closely with his craftsmen, he also designs and currently produces custom-made furnishings for Azueros homes in his workshops in Pedasi, Panama.

When Gilles Saint-Gilles and his wife, Camille, arrived to the Azuero region, they began by searching how best to adapt to the local climate. They walked the surrounding villages to learn from how the local farmer built his house and studied the best materials available locally.

At Azueros, The design and construction concept prioritizes: local materials; the quality of the material and lustrous finishes; air circulation and space; and visual harmony of the design and construction with nature to create architecture native to the region that is not artificial or imposed, one that is informed by and grows out of the natural surroundings. Azueros´ homes are constructed using construction techniques developed by Old World artisans, with exquisite details and combining design and architectural elements from local architecture, Spain, Northern Africa and the Asian Pacific Coast.
